This newer model is replacing the NOT garage ready GE chest freezer we have had out in the carport for fifteen years and is still running strong. The reason I bought a new one was to get a real garage ready model and because we have asked a lot of the older freezer. This new unit is a little bigger and has an interior light. The outside indicator lights are bigger and brighter and the back is caged to keep critters out. Everything looks more robust and better insulated. We let it cool down overnight but it was very cold within two hours of plugging it in. If this machine does as well as the last one, we will be very happy. PS - I took the old one to the barn to hold horse feed and keep it safe from pests.

Can't comment on the chest freezer that was just delivered, but... Previously owned a GE chest freezer for 22 years with NO issues, actually donated it to habitat because it was still freezing well (had some cosmetic issues with cracked edges of plastic inside lid). Also had an appliance repairman out for another appliance and anticipating replacing my chest freezer asked his opinion of what brand he considered the best. "GE" So...because of all of the above I chose to replace my GE chest freezer with another GE. I am a little disappointed with the depth and width of the hanging baskets.

The chest freezer that was installed in our home today is the same make and model of a chest freezer that we bought over 25 years ago, which is still going strong with no problems what so ever. The only reason why I bought another chest freezer is because the first one is filled with steelhead and salmon that my husband caught over the past 12 months.
